Obesity Causes Many Health Problems

Even though they put the word "Surprising" in the title of this article, there are no surprises on this list of health problems related to obesity.

We all know the things on this list that obesity cause, but many people who are morbidly obese and suffering with health problems are in denial.

They don't think their cancer is related to their morbid obesity.

They don't think their migraine headaches are caused by the unhealthy foods they eat or their weight.

They don't believe their sleep apnea or the fact that they have to wear CPAP machines to sleep are related to their obesity, nor do they plan to lose weight and change their habits.

Weight loss is possible but people have to really want to change.

I've taken heat for saying weight loss takes personal responsibility.

I've heard every excuse in the world for people not losing weight.

People tell me they're destined to be fat, yet there's no destiny stamped on their forehead that says they must remain obese.

People tell me it's the food industry's fault that they're fat, yet they're unwilling to take personal responsibility and choose organic fruits and vegetables and lean proteins.  They're unwilling to give up soda.

People tell me it's their family's fault, they're pressured into eating poorly, yet they could show their strength and cut portion sizes but don't.

People tell me diabetes 2 runs in their family and other family members have suffered amputations of feet or toes due to their diabetes, yet they're still morbidly obese?  When I share a meal with people who have been diagnosed with diabetes 2 and they're morbidly obese, yet they order french fries and a soda, I shake my head.

Excuses, excuses, excuses... George Washington Carver once said, "Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses."

I know people don't like to hear from anyone that they're overweight, obese or morbidly obese.  I know people don't like to hear they need to change old habits to lose weight.  But the truth will lead to a healthier life.

The old adage is true: old habits die hard.
