Woman Rebuilds Her Life After Verbal and Physical Abuse

This is one of the most shocking videos I've ever seen.  20/20 and Diane Sawyer expose how a woman who seems strong can actually crumble behind the closed doors of an abusive relationship.

Susan Still tells how she rebuilt her life ten years after her abusive husband has her teenage son videotape his vicious hour-long assault on her - Daily Mail

The husband got 36 years in jail for domestic violence.

Susan was fortunate that she had a job.  But most women who are living in a situation of domestic violence don't have their own income.

How do we help other women rebuild their lives?

Start by giving women good paying jobs to support themselves.  Without income, a woman is unable to leave a bad situation and remains tied to the abuse.  That sort of situation will continue to drag a person down until they are unemployable.

Watch all of the videos with this article.  Oprah revisits Susan and her children and shows how she started over as a single mom.  It's not easy.  Susan is truly an inspiration.
