So, I stumbled across a nap study from 2014 that says:
Naps linked with higher risk of death
What?!
Wait... my mother is in her 80s and she takes a nap every day. She hasn't dropped dead from napping. And if you're an "older" adult, you could die from anything, most likely, not from a series of afternoon naps. Obesity? High blood pressure? Stroke? Heart attack?
Before you give up your naps, how do you feel after a short nap?
If I need a nap, I take a 30 minute nap. Then, I feel re-focused.
Is that going to cut years off of my life?
Well, not being focused and not doing my work is going to cut numbers off of my bank account.
I went to the original study:
Daytime Napping and the Risk of All-Cause and Cause-Specific Mortality: A 13-Year Follow-up of a British Population - Oxford Journals
Read the key words: "conflicting results" and "further research is required."
That's all I needed to see... wake me when you're done pursuing the articles. Night-night...
