Eat Fish for Benefits

In losing weight, I've been eating a lot more fish.

I like eating fish for its protein boost and built-in vitamins.  It also helps lower blood pressure and more importantly, reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke.  My father suffered a debilitating stroke and that is something I want to avoid.

I've been indulging in everything from simple salmon to tilapia and then checking the calories on MyFitnessPal.com.

Salmon is a little pricier than tilapia which you can find for a few dollars.  They're comparable in calories.

For two small pieces of salmon, it's only about 90 calories.  For a full baked salmon steak, it can bounce up to 282 calories.  For 1/4 cup of Trader Joe's canned Sockeye Wild Caught Pacific Salmon, it's only 110 calories.  Four ounces of baked tilapia is also only 110 calories.

The American Heart Association recommends you eat fish two times a week for a healthy diet.

Baked fish is always a winner for your family and your health.

I like to eat salmon so many different ways, it brightens a meal.  And I'm guaranteed a protein punch.

Try to add some fish to your diet every week.  Delicious!

  1. They have grilled salmon in the frozen section at Walmart. I forget who makes it, but it's not too bad. And it's not that expensive, either. I like salmon...but other fish? Not so much. But good for you in eating it! :)
