Who Won Miss USA 2014? Miss Indiana?

I know more about a woman who lost the Miss USA pageant than I do about the winner.  You've seen the pictures of Miss Indiana all over the internet for being praised as healthy and normal.

You can see a nice sampling of photos of Miss Indiana here on Skinny vs. Curvy.

I would love to compare the height, weight and BMI's of the winner and the losers.

I actually had to look up the winner's name because I knew more about Miss Indiana than anyone else. She definitely earned the most exposure from the contest.

Interesting...

Miss Nevada Nia Sanchez won the Miss USA Pageant 2014.  She's beautiful and she has a black belt in taekwondo.  The Daily Mail has her photos including her bikini photo.  I can't find her weight listed anywhere but she has a height of 5'8".  She looks traditionally thin especially on camera which adds weight.  I have no idea what her BMI is but I would imagine it qualifies as slightly underweight, although she looks healthy on camera.

Miss Arizona Jordan Wessel is 5'9" and she's received publicity for losing 40 pounds in 4 months time.  But I have no clue what her weight is although she also looks healthy.  People Magazine published a feature on her weight loss.

Miss Indiana Mekayla Diehl is getting the most attention from the pageant. She is also the only one sharing her height AND weight.  She is 5'8" and weighs 137 pounds.  She also wears a size 4 dress.  Size 4.  Wow.  Impressive and thin.  So, let's go to the BMI calculator.  I read in the LA Times that she has a BMI of 18.  But with these stats and the NIH Calculator, she actually has a normal, healthy BMI of 20.8.  She looks fabulous in her bikini and gown.

All of the contestants are beautiful and they're all winners in their own way.  They carry the title of being a participant in the 2014 Miss USA pageant with them for life.  They'll be able to do speeches for the rest of their lives if they choose that path.  They'll be able to pursue acting and high-paying jobs.  Doors will swing open for them.  So, congratulations to all of the Miss USA participants no matter their BMI.

  1. They all look spectacular! Now I want to model, too! Well...maybe not. LOL! Thanks for sharing. I hadn't heard any of this. Now I feel enlightened. :)
