Where does you state rank on the obesity scale?
Check out this obesity map.
Looks like it's good news for people in Hawaii.
Why does Hawaii have one of the lowest obesity percentages?
I believe it's because activities such as swimming, snorkeling, surfing and hiking beautiful mountains are built into the day-to-day activities in Hawaii. Of course, there are still morbidly obese residents in Hawaii, but it still looks healthier than other states.
Rounding out the top five thinnest states are Hawaii, Colorado, Montana, California, and Massachusetts.
I live in California and I see a lot of obese people in our state. But overall, the percentage of obesity is lower compared to other states.
The bottom five states with the highest percentage of obesity include Mississippi, West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.
Is it all that Southern fried food? We have fried foods in our state, too.
Bottom line: I don't think it matters where you live. Obesity is not environmental beyond the choices you make in your own home with your food purchases.
