Rest and Reboot: Stress Causes Chest and Throat Infections?

Stress takes its toll.

I had been sick for three weeks.   What started as a sniffle, led to a cough and developed into a full blown illness.  So, I finally went to the doctor.

The doctor diagnosed bronchitis and sinusitis.  She didn't say this was going around.  No. Instead, she asked about the stress level in my life.  She told me to rest and reboot.  She also gave me a couple of prescriptions.

The thing that caught my ear was: rest and reboot.

Rest.  I hadn't been getting regular rest for a couple of months as my stress level had increased.

Reboot.  Refocusing, re-energizing, and restarting your system takes a step back in order to move forward.

If you're headed down the wrong path, you can feel it in your heart and soul.  If you're not appreciated in an important part of your life, either in a relationship or your workplace, it takes its toll on your health.  If you lose income and you're struggling in this economy, you know your health will suffer. There are a million different reasons you can be stressed in life and your health can take a hit.

If you're feeling you're in the wrong relationship or the wrong workplace, there are decisions to be made that may lead to a better health situation.

My advice: go where you're wanted.  Go where you're appreciated.  Go where you're loved.  Go where you feel respect.  Go where you can contribute.  Go where you can make a difference.

I'm feeling I'm getting back on track as I pursue something I've wanted to do for years.  And now that I've made the decision to change something important in my life, I'm feeling better.  My cold is gone. My cough is nearly gone.  I can breathe again.  And it's clear it's something more than mere medicine.  It's medicine for my heart.

If you're not feeling well, go to the doctor.  But also take the time to reevaluate your life.  Is something out of whack or do you feel out of place?  Remember.  Rest and Reboot!  It makes all the difference in the world.
