Gwyneth Paltrow has taken the NYC Food Bank Challenge by buying $29 worth of food for a week.
And this is what she bought.
What was she expecting? To eat a lime and a little cilantro at each meal for a week?
Honestly, it looks like the makings for a single meal of homemade rice and bean tacos for a family of four.
What would an average person (non-celeb) spend that same amount of money on if he or she went shopping?
I would buy the eggs and a bag of rice, but I would also invest in canned goods instead of cilantro.
If I had $29, I would find as many canned goods that would keep for the week. Most of those canned goods would cost $1 or less each. For example, I know a place where a can of beans would cost 69 cents and a can of Tuna would cost 99 cents. I would also buy a big cheap bag of potatoes.
How would you spend your $29? What food items would you buy?
