1,000 Foot Water Slide - Not in LA

Slide the City has a 1,000 foot vinyl water slide which they promote as longer than three football fields.

Can you imagine?  That brings back memories of the old Slip N' Slides from my childhood.

Slide the City donates money to Generosity.org which is on a mission to bring clean water to the 768 million people who don't have access to clean water around the world.  Each Slide the City Event funds one water well and provides clean water to over 500 people in need.  It's definitely a start and helping people in need.

But the City of Los Angeles has canceled this year's event due to drought conditions.

Drought nixes Slide the City for downtown Los Angeles, Bureau of Street Services rules

It's true that my yard is dead.  We're not allowed to run sprinklers regularly due to the drought.  And each event uses 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of water on the huge water slide.  The event in LA was supposed be held September 28th and it was sold out.

Oh, well... if you're living in another city, Slide the City may be coming to your area soon.  Check out the cities where Slide the City will be focusing on this year and next year:  Slide The City Chronological List of Cities.

Here's the best part of the fun... check out the video and it's for a good cause!

Hopefully, our drought will be over soon and LA can plan for next year!

Now, I want to go for a swim!

I just looked on the Slide the City Facebook Page... now the company is proposing for K-Y Jelly and Vaseline companies to sponsor the event in LA so they can put it back on the books.   Can you imagine 20,000 gallons of K-Y Jelly and Vaseline on a water slide?  How would that cleanup work? At least the company is brainstorming...
