Obesity Global Issue Costing $2 Trillion Annually

This is no longer shocking.  The obesity crisis is HUGE around the world.

According to McKinsey & Company, more than 2.1 billion people worldwide are overweight or obese.  That's nearly 30% of the global population!!!

Look around your neighborhood and you see obesity.

Look around your workplace and you see obesity.

Look around your gym and you see obesity.

It makes no sense, right?

If there are obese people at the gym who have been working out for years but haven't lost weight, what is the answer?

There must be a retraining of poor eating habits.  Stress eating has to be replaced by better habits. We have to offer retraining for people to find success in weight loss.  Every state in the nation should require all restaurants to post calories, reminding consumers they're making a choice. There also should be a mandatory disclosure of GMOs in food products with GMO labeling.  If 64 countries around the world require GMO labeling, why doesn't the United States?  In my opinion, our bodies struggle to metabolize GMOs and that has contributed to the weight gain, especially in America.

Moving and exercising is not enough.  Food choices have to be altered.  There needs to be a retraining of habits.  And labeling has to be altered.  I agree with McKinsey and Company that there need to be as many interventions put in place as possible to help people who are overweight, obese and morbidly obese.

Morbidly obese people need someone like this woman with Type 2 Diabetes in their life who will tell them the truth when they're gaining weight.  She should be hired by obese people because she is helping people by being honest about obesity.  And she's found success in weight loss, improving her own health.

We need to take her lead and help each other.  If we're not honest with our community, our friends or family members, that means we don't care if other people live or die.  We need to start caring and getting really honest by helping each other break old habits that have kept us obese.  And create new habits that keep us healthy and thin.
