Obese Kids Stay That Way

There's a new study from Boston Children's Hospital shows that kids who are fat at 11 will be fat at 16.  They tracked 4,000 children for five years and I believe this study is true.

When I was in middle school and high school, the heaviest kids stayed heavy or got heavier into high school unless they joined a sports team.

I believe it comes down to bad habits.  If bad eating habits and poor exercise habits are in place at the age of 11, then those habits will return into teenage years and ultimately, into high school and adulthood.

In order to change your body, you need to overhaul those bad habits and start embracing newly improved habits.

If the study continues and they track these kids from the research into adulthood, most of them will probably remain obese.  But it doesn't have to be that way.  There are choices.

Anyone can turn obesity around before it's too late.  People with Type 2 Diabetes can turn their situation around and lose weight.  People who've found success are blogging about it.  Learn from the information they're sharing and implement small changes every day until good habits become part of your lifestyle.  The same is true with kids.  If you teach good habits, those better habits will be adopted long-term.
