This is just crazy but it goes to show that the weight issue is different for people who are on the big screen.
Actress Amanda Seyfried says she almost lost movie roles because she was overweight. Really? Her height and weight are estimated to be 5'3 1/2" and 108 pounds. That would place her BMI at 19 at the low end of the normal range but just slightly above being underweight.
But when you're on film, it adds 10 pounds.

The audiences expect to see "normal" on the screen but that is abnormal behind the scenes.
In my years in the film industry, I've heard producers and film executives complain about the weight of an actress saying she looks fat.
Have you met actresses in person? They're shockingly thin and yet on screen, they look normal or healthy.
So, if this is the kind of TV and film work actresses want to do, I don't see it changing anytime soon. As long as thin is in, super-thin will be expected for actresses to work.
