Lonesome George Now Stuffed & On Display

One of the last of his species of the Galapagos giant tortoises, George was famous. He was so famous, when he died around the age of 100, they stuffed him and put him on display in New York City.


Lonesome George is now being fought over... where will his stuffed body reside after his showing in NYC?


Tortoises are beautiful, extraordinary creatures.  Many people own tortoises in Southern California. Tortoises live a very long time.  I know people who have inherited them from relatives because many tortoises outlive their owners.

George has an extraordinary story and he's gone too soon.  He could have lived to be 200 years old.
