Aren't these the funniest looking sneakers? The colors are bright, bold and they make me chuckle every time I look at them. Why? Because they only cost me $12. And they're the best sneakers on the market for my feet during workouts.
I have worn the same Asics sneakers for the past few years and those shoes now have holes in the toes.
People at the gym ask: "Do you know you have holes in your shoes?" Yes, I know. Duh. I see them.
The price of sneakers has skyrocketed to over $100+ a pair. Who can afford that regularly?
So, I waited until the right time came along.
My husband and I don't live together anymore, but we still have reward accounts at various stores. If either one of us spends money, the rewards come to our home. He had taken our sons fishing earlier this summer when they were home from college. As a result, both of us spent enough money on the fishing trip to create rewards. So, I received the reward statements and they had deadlines for this particular sporting goods store. I looked at my trashed sneakers that were worn out and thought I'd just take a look.
It was the week before Labor Day but there happened to be a big pre-sale for Labor Day Weekend discounting the ugliest, most difficult to sell sneakers by 50%. Then, adding in the reward statement... well, that's how these Asics cost $12. It was an unbelievable deal.
When you're working out, you need shoes that fit just right and give you support. I got a cheap pair of sneakers at a flea market when I was out-of-town for a family wedding, but the shoes were three dollars more, they didn't fit right and I ended up with a twisted ankle when I went for a jog. No support means problems. So, I use those shoes for walking and my Asics for running and going to the gym.
Wait for a good sale, join a rewards club for free, and wait for the right time. Prices drop on things you need, you just have to wait until this kind of cake is baked to the right temperature for purchase! Healthy savings are an amazing thing!
