Throwing in your pet cat to close the sale of a house? That actually happened in Australia.
Tiffany the cat is worth $140,000 - Herald Sun
Did you read the article? Yes, you read that right. The owners of the house said they would only give their son, the real owner of the cat, $20,000 of their $140,000 extra profit for the cat.
Parents... would you ever sell your child's pet?
They asked readers of the Herald Sun if they would sell the family pet with a house.
Tiffany the cat should stay with her family - Herald Sun
My instant response would be no... until I thought about it.
$140,000 is a lot of money to pay off debt.
I wonder how old the cat is now, because if the son chose the cat from a pet shop years ago, the cat may be quite old. I'm really on the cat fence about this one... because if the cat loves the house, why uproot the cat? And that's probably what the family said... why not?
I would at least talk to my sons about it first.
Even though my sons are off at college and no longer provide daily care for any of their pets, they would still say, "No," to the sale of our cats.
Of course, no one is offering me $140,000 for my 16-year-old cat!
