There's a crazy thing going on in England, but when you stop and think about the obesity crisis, it makes sense.
Obesity crisis in the young fuels demand for 'fat' ambulances - Daily Mail
That's right. They need special ambulances that can carry a 980 pound body.
They also need bigger wheelchairs and stretchers!
Obesity is a worldwide epidemic.
If you're struggling and trying to lose weight, it's possible. But when you think you're seriously hungry and want to give into eating every filler food in sight, stop and take a moment. Pause... Stock your refrigerator with cucumbers and celery to be prepared for these moments. Chop up a cucumber and make a filling salad with a light lemon squeeze dressing. You're not denying yourself food, but you're fueling your body instead. And eating cucumbers with lemon juice won't turn you into 980 pounds.
Now, go back to that Daily Mail link and watch the video encouraging everyone to live lighter. If that video doesn't get your attention... what will?
Being obese can cost you your life in a different way, too.
Too fat to fly: 5,000 patients a year denied air ambulances for being too heavy - NY Post
Still not convinced? Look at this. It lists everything that has become supersized from buses to operating tables... to bras.
Supersized: Everyday Objects Get Bigger and Bigger - Information About Diabetes
Movie theatre seats... That's right. About six months ago I went to a recently renovated AMC movie theatre. The seats were seriously roomy and reclined. Two of us could have fit into one reclining chair. I didn't realize at the time that size of the seats was increased to accommodate obese and morbidly obese customers, but I can see that now.
Get honest with yourselves, your friends and your family. A real friend would tell a loved one that he or she has to get healthy and lose weight. A fake friend who doesn't care if someone lives or dies would remain silent or even worse, encourage someone who is already obese to go out to a greasy restaurant and indulge in soda, pizza and french fries instead of making a salad at home. A real friend is not going to dump you for telling him or her the truth.
My rule of thumb: home is where the heart is and home is where I make most of my low-calorie meals.
