I absolutely believe in eating at home most of the time. I believe it saves you calories and it's healthier in the long run. You're more likely to choose an appropriate portion size at home rather than eating a huge platter of unexpected food with free bread when you go out.
Once in a while I love a great restaurant like anyone else, but I also wonder what is going on when I can't see the food preparation. In Hawaii, many of the restaurants put the cooks on display so you can see exactly how your food is being made on the grill. But most restaurants in the state don't take this approach and we have no clue what is going on behind the scenes.
Some people who commit food tampering crimes go to jail, while others receive probation. I believe that anyone who tampers with someone else's food should absolutely face mandatory jail time. When someone is intentionally attempting to negatively affect your health, that deserves jail. I mean, look at the guy who had hepatitis C and spit into a cop's sandwich. Jail time! That is the only deterrent for someone who tampers with food.

I still don't eat grapes the same way since the grape scare occurred when I was growing up. I don't care if only two grapes were injected, that's two too many. I always inspect my grapes before I eat them or wash them for my family. If a grape has a hole in it, out it goes. Sorry... I grew up in a different era.
While looking through these stories, I found this gem which was written and published just weeks before 9/11/01. The article goes on and on how people overreact to the news...
