My mother has put out a call to my family and extended family to drink a cup or two of coffee every day to prevent developing Parkinson's Disease. There's no guaranteed promise, of course, but Parkinson's runs on both sides of my family. In fact, my uncle just died weeks ago from the effects of Parkinson's Disease. What he went through was worse case scenario, too.
I looked it up online and discovered that what my mother is saying is true.
This article from Bloomberg says one study advised to drink two or more cups of coffee daily to lower your risk of developing Parkinson's Disease.
Coffee Fuels Drive for Drugs for Parkinson's to Dementia
I stopped drinking coffee for several days and felt great. However, I don't want Parkinson's Disease.
Years ago, I had an ongoing twitch in my pinky finger and I was worried that I would eventually develop Parkinson's Disease. When my husband moved out of our home, that twitch went away... not saying there was a correlation to the stress or anything, but yes, it went away with his departure.
I have no twitches anywhere now and I'd like to keep it that way.
My grandmother on my father's side developed Parkinson's Disease in her 60s. My living uncle on my mother's side developed Parkinson's Disease in his 80s. Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the young age of 30. So, you can be diagnosed at any age.
I'm back to drinking coffee. Caffeine is still considered a drug, but it's far less expensive than taking a pharmaceutical drug to prevent a debilitating condition like my uncle suffered for many years.
May my uncle rest in peace...
