When you go to a hotel, if someone helps you or brings something to your room, you know you're supposed to tip $5. But hotel guests normally don't see the hotel maid who cleans their room during the day while they're out and about. So, Marriott International is putting 160,000 envelopes into guest rooms at Marriott-managed hotels in the United States and Canada.
The rate of tips suggested is for guests to leave $1 to $5 per night for daily tipping. The envelope will remind guests that tips are welcome.
So, next time you're traveling, if your room is clean and your belongings safe, give credit where credit is due - to your hotel maid!
