Another marketing ploy for consumers who want to cut calories when they eat out.
Pizza Hut's 'Skinny Slice' Will Save You Calories ... Kind Of?
Pizza Hut is testing the "Skinny Slice" pizza, which is only about 50 to 100 calories off their regular pizza slice which has more dough. In LA, we already have that option at pizza restaurants and it's called Thin Sliced Pizza. I even think Pizza Hut already offers Thin Crust Pizza.
Every business has to try to reinvent with the times and Pizza Hut is no different.
Pizza is pizza is pizza... it's primarily dough with sauce and cheese. And it's high in calories. One slice of the Skinny Slice Pizza ranges from 250 calories to 300 calories, depending on the toppings and the location.
My son lost weight by eating pizza in the college cafeteria but he only ate the cheese and sauce and threw away the dough. He lost weight by getting rid of the dough part of the pizza.
This maneuver is not about helping consumers lose weight. It's about profit.
Can 'Skinny Slice' Pies Fatten Pizza Hut's Bottom Line?
So, maybe just maybe it's marketing that will fill the coffers of Pizza Hut. More likely, consumers will be fooled into thinking Skinny Slice is less than 250 calories making them eat a whole pie instead of a single slice.
Do you know how much food you can eat for 250 or 300 calories if you eat at home and make smart choices? You can eat way more food than one slice of pizza.
