Breadsticks at Olive Garden?

So, there's drama at Olive Garden.

Olive Garden Investor: Back off on the Breadsticks - ABC News

There's a 300-page report on the underperforming Olive Garden here.  It's very interesting and it's not only about breadsticks.

Transforming Darden Restaurants - September 11, 2014

Look at the opening quote on the first page of that document:

"You just have to have good people if you are going to have a good operation, without them you are lost." - Bill Darden

Boy, oh boy, do I agree with Mr. Darden!

Back to the breadsticks.  I agree with him there, too.  After a while of sitting, those breadsticks get hard and they aren't the same if they're not hot from the kitchen.  I haven't been to Olive Garden for years because I didn't think their entrees were good.  I liked the endless salad and a few breadsticks, but that's it.  The rest seemed overpriced and not very tasty.

But back off the breadsticks for another reason.  Each breadstick is 140 calories.  If you eat three breadsticks, that's enough calories for your entire meal!

Olive Garden Nutrition & Calorie Counts

So, the choice is yours.  Choose excellent food when you eat out or eat at home for less calories.  I mean, what's the point of eating out and it's crappy food and lower turnover of meat, etc.

Either way - always choose healthy eating!
