Auto shop owner finds winning $2.9M lottery ticket in his truck
After reading this story, I raced to my car and stumbled across an old Mega Millions lottery ticket collecting dust in my middle car console, too. I checked my numbers...but I did not win $2.9 million. I didn't even win a buck.
However, what if there is another old winning lottery ticket floating around my car or my house? How many of us buy a lottery ticket, stick it into a purse or a drawer and forget about it? Maybe the excitement is in buying the lottery ticket.

When I was growing up, it used to be a year until expiration. Boy oh boy, how times have changed. Only the Powerball JACKPOTS can be claimed for up to a year from the date of purchase.
