A guy in NY recently found an old lottery ticket in his truck, checked the numbers and they matched.
Auto shop owner finds winning $2.9M lottery ticket in his truck
After reading this story, I raced to my car and stumbled across an old Mega Millions lottery ticket collecting dust in my middle car console, too. I checked my numbers...but I did not win $2.9 million. I didn't even win a buck.
However, what if there is another old winning lottery ticket floating around my car or my house? How many of us buy a lottery ticket, stick it into a purse or a drawer and forget about it? Maybe the excitement is in buying the lottery ticket.
If you believe you can win, maybe you will win. Either way, you have to buy a lottery ticket just to have a chance at winning...
Time to search my house and my car for another old lottery ticket. In California, most of the lottery ticket winnings expire six months after purchase. When I was growing up, it used to be a year until expiration. Boy oh boy, how times have changed. Only the Powerball JACKPOTS can be claimed for up to a year from the date of purchase.
This kind of story spurs lottery fever...what would you do with $2.9 Million?
Now, look at the list of Unclaimed Lottery Prizes in California.
Yes, that's right. According to the CA Lottery website, the $213 Million Powerball Jackpot for October 23rd, 2013 went unclaimed!
So, look for your old lottery tickets today before it's too late!
October is approaching quickly!
